Using Selenium webdriver with firefox user profile - how to get rid of addins pop-ups

When I use selenium webdriver with a custom firefox profile, I get Firefox add-ons showing 2 extensions: Firefx WebDriver 2.5.0 and Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.9rc2.

How can I get rid of this popup? I looked at the server bank to find out if I could find an extension, no luck. Looked online at extensions, no luck. When I run the code without using a custom profile, a popup is missing.

You need to add an entry called extensions.newAddons to your profile settings and set the value to false.

Launch firefox with a custom profile

firefox -profile <path to profile directory>

Type about: config in the address bar and press enter. Right-click on the preferences panel to open the context menu and go to Create → Logical . Enter extensions.newAddons for the preference name. Select false for the new boolean.

The entry should prevent a new add-ons window from appearing when Firefox starts with this profile.

Open Firefox with this profile (with the profile manager), go to Firefox settings, disable updates - this works for me.
