Calling .net 4 from .net 3.5 through a self-service wcf service

I have a .net 3.5 application. It cannot be moved to 4.

I need to call the .net 4 assembly from my application.

I was thinking of creating a new executable in .net 4, which has a self-service wcf service, which is an adapter to build 4. Then my 3.5 application can execute an external process and invoke the build.

Is this a little ugly - any better idea?

Google says it is possible. There seems to be a new feature in .Net 4 called Inproc Sxs (in the process side by side).
