Android overlayitem as arrow in direction instead of marker

Question

Is it possible that I had a direction arrow to the displayed location instead of a marker for the location itself. How can I do it?

edit -clanifying what I'm trying to do:

I have points for a map, which may be off-screen. If the dot is off-screen, I need a marker or an arrow on the edge of the screen indicating which direction the marker will be displayed off-screen.
