Visual Studio 2010 with .NET Framework 2

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but can't find any information about it. I use Windows 7 and have Visual Studio 2010 as free for students. Is it possible to write an application to a working version of 2.net so that I can run these applications in Windows XP? Should I use an old version of Visual Studio or a special compilation method?

Yes it is possible. You must select ".NET Framework 2.0" from the drop-down list in the "New Project" dialog box. Or you can change the target structure of an existing project in the properties dialog box.

Yes, you can make a project in .net 2.0 too, when creating a project, select .net 2.0 in the upper right corner of the create project dialog
