Gnuplot horizontal stripes at each tick

In gnuplot, how can I draw horizontal stripes all over the chart on each tic mark on the y axis? Just like a kind of visual indicator of where a particular point is.

(apologies if it's simple, but googling turned out to be fruitless)

See the set grid command. For instance:

 set grid ytics

will show horizontal bars on the chart for every y tic. set grid itself will do horizontal and vertical stripes.
