Created a .pkg file in Xcode 4 and was unable to run it on my computer.

Question

I created the .pkg file of my Mac application using Xcode 4. I installed it using the terminal successfully, however, when I double-click on the .pkg file, I get a message that says: "... cannot be installed on this computer. "

Any suggestions?

EDIT: This is the error message I get. I created the package by going to Product-> Archive . Then in Organizer, I click Share-> Mac OSX App Store Package (.pkg) , and then save the package to the desktop.

try changing the file extension from .pkg to dmg, since I know that all the installation files are .dmg, not .pkg

still not working...

Well, the only thing you need to change is right-click the file and select "Get Information"

open access open ... select DiskImageMounter.app and ur to leave ... hope this helps ...

You cannot install 32-bit packages on 64-bit systems and vice versa. Log in to Xcode Inspector and change the base SDK to the target system or your system.

Update the SDK and Xcode to the latest version. This fixed issues for me in the past.

Clean the project, then create / archive it when changing the settings.

This is probably a nasty bug in Xcode4 ... the interface between xcode and packagemaker does not work correctly ... if you say that if you use the standalone Packagemaker package, you can create a working package. voila !: -)))
