IPhone dev question: “No iPhone OS connected”, I don’t know what else to try for troubleshooting

I am trying to compile and install my first application on my iPhone after setting up a profile and certificate. At this point, I get the "No iPhone OS Preinstalled" error message when creating and exiting.

I am using iPhone OS 3.1.3 and Xcode 3.2.2 on 10.6.3.

• I confirmed that my iPhone is connected to my development machine (this is visible on both iTunes and Xcode Organizer (in Organizer, it has a green dot next to it)).

• I rebooted the iPhone and restarted Xcode several times.

• I checked that the Bundle identifier in my appname.plist is set to com .. (with the corresponding values between the angle brackets).

I looked at the error message on the Internet and still have not found the clue that made me overcome the hump ...

Thanks for any help!

  • Open Organizer (in Xcode> Window> Organizer), check to see if there is a green dot next to your iPhone.

  • Click on the iPhone element, check if it is ready for development (if "Use for development" is used, it means that it is not)

  • Sometimes you may need to turn off the power on your iPhone

Have you added the device UDIDs to the appropriate provisioning profile on the Apple iPhone Developer Portal and downloaded and installed a new profile?

Maybe the answer is now; see comment below. But if nothing else, the same problem and question. I have tried all the unique suggestions made in this and other forums, several times for some suggestions, as the original author did, and I continue to receive the same message. I removed everything from the support portal, from my iPhone (3.1.3) and from Xcode (3.2), and reinstalled / reinstalled everything. As above, the green dot is displayed in the Organizer, as well as the corresponding specific iPhone data, the initialization file is also on the iPhone, all relevant certificates are displayed in place. I “cleaned” the assembly; I unplugged the iPhone and restarted Xcode in several different sequences; I closed the Mac and restarted everything. But, I keep getting "No connected device for iPhone OS."

And yes, this is my first attempt to download the development application on the iPhone, so the author of the original question and I seem to share similar relevant experience and behavior. I continue to hope to return and find the missing step. And, although it took several attempts to do this, and everything looks as if it is correct, it looks like I still forgot something important.

Besides the “reboot” suggestions, did anyone find any strong feelings in the order in which they are done, or something that seems to have become more complicated with Xcode 3.2 or iPhone 3.1.3? I notice that many examples of this question first appeared 18 months ago, then it was silent for a long time, and now many new queries of this kind have appeared.
