Still there is a built-in / modular JBoss server?

Following the example of some examples of EJB 3.0 listed in Saving Java with Hibernate since 2007, I was told

Go to http://jboss.com/products/ejb3 , download the modular sub-Server

But all I see there is a plugin called "JBoss EJB3 Plugin 1.0.19", which contains some banners. Therefore, I am not sure that the instructions from 2007 may be outdated, since this plugin is obviously not a server

Basically, I guess I need some kind of lightweight Jboss embedded container. Could you point me in the right direction? Or should I just go for the standard version of JBoss AS 6.0?

The example in itself is just a HelloWorld program that takes a string message and writes it to the database using EJB 3.0, nothing unusual, I'm still new.

THX

Never mind: for the sake of a future link: find answers to some of the answers

Reply from a Christian on a hibernation forum:

Since the book was released, the "JBoss Embedded EJB3 Server", as described and used in the book, is deprecated. What is now available, the "JBoss Embedded Application Server", is not the same (although at first it looks similar).

You have two options:

  • Follow the letter and load the old server, it is included in the download of CaveatEmptor / HelloWorld (with all libs, etc.), at http://caveatemptor.hibernate.org

  • Drop this section of the book after reading it once and start with the examples that come with the new JBoss AS embedded.
