Application Loader cannot select zip file of my Mac application

My Mac app is Pending Download. When I launch Application Loader, I can select it from the list. However, when I click "Select ...", I cannot select the zip file of my application (or any other file of any type). I tried downloading the iPhone application to see if Application Loader has problems and it works fine. Am I missing something? or has Apple changed anything recently with the launch of Xcode 4 ?. Thanks guys!

You need to provide the Application Loader PKG app for Mac or IPA app for iPhone. You cannot upload a zip file. You can generate these files in Xcode 4 by going to Product> Archive and then exporting it from the Organizer's Archives panel.

I downloaded Xcode 4 and used my new way to upload binaries to iTunes Connect, and it worked. But I'm really curious why Application Loader was not able to download the file.
