How to register a MIME type document in OSX so that it appears in the browser navigator .MIMETypes array

Is there a way for my MIME application documents (declared in my info.plist) to display in my navigator.mimeTypes array?

On Windows, you register your MIME type in the registry and it appears in the mimeType array of Firefox, but I cannot do the equivalent thing in OSX.

Thanks in advance!

If you just want to edit it on your computer, you can try moreInternet .

If you install the application, and also want it to be downloaded to Safari during installation, you could provide a Safari or xxtension plugin; which you can learn about in the Safari Extension Guide or WebKit Plug - In the programming topics . Also see How to determine the name WebPluginMIMETypesFilename in the plist of the safari webplugin project? which references some syntax examples of the info.plist file.
