Creating Netbeans Fonts

I usually use Eclipse, but I would also like to use Netbeans sometimes, especially the Netbeans platform, which looks nice.

The only problem I am facing is that the rendering of fonts in Netbeans is crappy without any good hints, so it looks pretty bad compared to rendering fonts in Eclipse. This looks bad, especially on Ubuntu.

Do you know how to improve font rendering in Netbeans?

try adding the following parameters to your netbeans.conf:

-J-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on -J-Dswing.aatext=true

Fonts

display well on v6.9.1 and v7.01, but poorly on v7.1rc2. This has been fixed in the nightly build (e.g. NetBeans IDE Build 201112270601)

Or you can try to edit netbeans.conf, i.e. add:

-J-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings = on -J-Dswing.aatext = false

in netbeans_default_options. The above will disable the swinging AA font and enable the System AA font.

But SystemAA could be worse. Font IMHO Vista AA is missing compared to the AA font rendering system in version 7.01
