Failed to load Android emulator in Eclipse. All he says is ANDROID_. Any suggestions?

I went through the simple hello world application on the Android developer forums to the absolute T. But when I run the emulator, all he came up with is a big black screen that just says ANDROID_. "_" Flashes. Does anyone know what could have caused this or why it is not working.

This may take some time. Remember that this is an emulation of an ARM processor, so it may take some time depending on the characteristics of your device. Run it and give it 5 minutes. If it does not appear, you can close and restart. While it starts, if you open ddms, you can monitor what happens in logcat.

The good news is that if you turn on snapshots as soon as you start it and save it (it does it by itself). Subsequent launches should be fairly quick.

For some reason, the android emulator does not work properly on any laptop that I have. It lags behind even my high-performance laptop with a 4 GB Ram, i5 and 1 GPU, so I connect my phone with a USB cable, turn on debug mode and launch the application on the phone from eclipse. You will need a working adb connection, as indicated on the Android developer website. It works very well and better than using an emulator. :)

It takes about 3 minutes to download the emulator to the laptop. Wait about 5-6 minutes if not. close it.

If you restart again, you will get the same thing, go to AVD Manager, delete the image and create a new one.

As others have said, the emulator starts up very, very slowly. It can be wedged into a startup for me from time to time, but closing it and trying a second time almost always works. And yes, you can leave it working all the time, but note that Eclipse and / or ADB can also be jammed. In Eclipse, you will see the logcat update. I can usually restart it by doing

adb kill-server adb start-server

Sometimes just executing the adb log code on the command line will again lead to a move. Good luck.
