Export all my emails from your Gmail account as xml

Bizarrely, I use an email account to store recipes.

I want to export all posts in XML format or similar, which I could easily reproduce on a Wordpress blog or the like. Or just print all the recipes, but with some formatting created in place.

Gmail offers RSS feeds for shortcuts and exports to an external email client, and also found something called backup goo, which allows me to export all emails as .eml files in MIME format.

Anyone sheds light on working with such things. In fact, this may seem like a really frivolous problem, but in fact the problem is that I canโ€™t access such personal data that I would have to move to another place and imagine it easily.

Is Gmail the only option you can use? By default, Gmail uses IMAP to exchange email. This means that all your emails (recipients) are still on the GMail server. I would suggest using another program (email client) that offers more export options than Gmail.

I can connect to my Gmail account using Mozilla Thunderbird (using standard credentials such as IMAP server address, port, login, password) and view all messages from there. And since this is IMAP, they are synchronized, not downloaded, so I have an exact copy in both Gmail and Thunderbird. I donโ€™t remember Thunderbird (I havenโ€™t used it for ages! :), but Iโ€™m sure that you will find more export options there or in any of your plugins than you will find in Gmail.

You can redirect your letters to Thunderbird and use the ImportExport tools to export all your letters as:

  • HTML
  • CSV
  • Xls.
  • Mbox.
  • plain text.
