Sql server management console does not work with multibyte characters

I am trying to figure out how to use SQL Server Management Studio with multibyte Unicode characters. even something simple:

select N'动漫'

just returns square fields in the results pane. I know that the base database is configured correctly for working with unicode and other applications on the PC, works fine with Chinese characters.

any tips are greatly appreciated

Changing the font in Arial Unicode MS did the trick for me.

I don’t understand why text results are displayed using fonts, where Grid Results are NOT, and why other Unicode fonts do not work, but well.

After many disappointing hours with this problem, I just found a solution (if not an explanation).

Changing the font of the query results did not affect my system (Win 7 Enterprise, 64-bit).

After much searching, I discovered this: My Chinese word suddenly appeared like a square box

In short: create a new Windows user account, then log in as a user - you need to make sure that your Chinese characters are displayed correctly. Now log in to your original account and you should find this, now Chinese characters are also displayed.

Thus, the creation of a new account leads to fixing behavior for both (perhaps all?) Accounts. Now - who has an explanation?
