Facebook chat with pure ruby

I am just wondering if there is any stone that I could use for facebook chat. I do not want to use Rails. I am trying to create a command line application for use on Linux.

Facebook chat provides Jabber / XMPP service , see http://developers.facebook.com/docs/chat/

You need to look for a gemstone that supports XMPP, for example xmpp4r .

You can use this gem https://github.com/kissrobber/xmpp4r_facebook . The README file uses an example. This worked very well for me.
