What is the format of regular expressions in gitk?

I am trying to use the find / "add / remove line / regex" option in gitk. The syntax I tried does not work, and I cannot find any documents describing the syntax of the regular expressions that it accepts.

I am trying to map both Modem_Wakup and Modem_UnWakeup . Neither Modem_(Un)?Wakeup , nor Modem_\(Un\)?Wakeup , nor Modem_\(Un\)\?Wakeup , nor any other obvious work. I can find the lines separately, so I know there should be matches.

What syntax does it use?

This function should be based on a pickix grep system based on the POSIX regexp .

But this thread reports an error about this from gitk:

I presented the problem in # git, and it has been suggested that this is probably a pickaxe error in that it does not display changes in merge commands if they add lines that none of their parents have .

This may not be your specific case, but just an illustration that this feature is not yet fully available.
