You can put "Start" in front of the name of the executable file. This will launch the executable and exit without waiting for it to complete.

For instance,

notepad.exe exit 

does not close the command prompt window until notepad is closed.

 start notepad.exe exit 

will be released immediately without waiting.

Of course, if the subsequent steps in the batch file depend on the executable, this will be useless to you.
