LateX rendering for Java and Objective-C

I am looking for a LateX library for creating formulas.

The project is an autonomous database of mathematical formulas for an application for smartphones. I need the application not to be too heavy , and so that users can enter their own formulas. Therefore, I want the program to display written formulas more than displaying PNG files that are heavier.

The second difficult part is that the application will be on both Android (my part) and the iPhone (another developer will do this).

The database will be the same in two cases (SQLite), so we need to display the same written formulas, and preferably it will be latex. But it can be different libraries.

Do you have any ideas?

Take a look at MathJax . This Javascript library maps TeX commands to mathematical formulas. This is becoming increasingly popular, with many scientific and mathematical journal websites accepting it to provide equations online.

Typically, MathJax is applied to the entire web page to display all the equations at once; It works great for computers, but I found it a little slow on the iPhone / iPad. I think this is similar to Android.

You should be able to use only a portion of the rendering without significant performance degradation.

In any case, do not reinvent the wheel; instead, please contribute to MathJax!

There is a project called "VerbTeX" that basically edits the latex file on the phone, but the latex command runs on the server. Perhaps you can negotiate with them and convince them to have PNG (or something else) rendering, and you can also create your own latex rendering on the server side. Of course, this depends on whether the server-side solution is acceptable.
