Is WPF a replacement for WinForms?

Possible duplicate:
When is Winforms the right choice against WPF?

Hi, I read different opinions, but finally I don’t get it. Is there also a WPF replacement for WinForms or is it an alternative for a richer visual experience?

Alternative. Winforms is not dead; it is fully supported by .NET 4.0. And nothing that you did in the Winforms project can be saved if you completely convert it to a WPF application.

In short ... yes.

That is, it can be viewed in both directions.

What Microsoft said in a nutshell:

  • WinForms does not go away.
  • There will be no more significant development on the WinForms platform.
  • Microsoft recommends using WPF
  • WPF will provide you with a richer user interface experience.
  • WPF allows you to more easily use design patterns to develop standards-based standards.

I know it is about as clear as dirt, but that's what they said.

No, it’s not, but the way it manages is more dynamic and convenient for developers, especially with the support of the same approach in Silverlight, which starts to turn off Flash backlighting.

You can take a look at WPF in the Wikipedia article .

Whatever we do in winform, we can do in wpf as well. Only the difference in winforms also works in an older OS. Starting with VS2005, there are not a lot of add-ons in the winform library and controls, while there are a lot of add-ons in the WPF libraries and controls. And VS2010 is completely written in wpf. Based on these facts, it seems that Microsoft is quite interested in increasing wpf. Also, like on my network, most new desktop programs choose wpf. Winform will certainly be there for the next 5 years, but I will doubt its future after that.
