What is the recommended hotkey for the Apply button

The "Apply" button is in many systems and programs, a general approach that has its place (appearance). But what is the recommended hotkey for the "Apply" button.

OK (Enter), Cancel (ECS), Help (F1), Apply (??)

Which hotkey do you prefer?

Alt + A , I would say. Therefore, just use regular accelerators (with the & prefix).

As far as I know, in the dialog box, compared to those that you already mentioned, there are no accelerators with one default key.

I recommend that you do not force the user to use it. Try directly applying user input. This simplifies your application because the user does not need to worry about it. In any case, you must give the user feedback on your changes. Show him the message "your entry has been saved" (without a message box). Try to avoid all the steps that are not needed. This makes your application or web page more user friendly.

In addition, no user wants to memorize "hot keys" for thousands of programs.

If you really need a hotkey, I recommend some combination of ENTER. We can see Apply as an OK semi-drive, because changes are made, but the window remains open. The semi-inverter can be, for example, CTRL + ENTER or CTRL + ALT + ENTER, etc.
