Can I access the camera on a Macbook with REALbasic? I would like the user to be able to capture the image from the camera.

Found 3 possible solutions:

  • free plugin: CamCapture This should work for those who need an easy way to capture images from the built-in iSight camera. It should also work for other camcorder sources that support QuickTime. There is an example project, but no documentation. FYI - site and example in French.

  • A commercial option that I could not try is QTKit from MonkeyBread Software. This option is not free, but documented and maintained, unlike the free option.

  • realcapture is a free, unsupported RB canvas. It uses ads to access the camera.
