Growl type notification on iPad / iPhone?

Growl type notification on iPad / iPhone? I want to show a modeless / non-pop-up notification on top of the iPad application.

Growl is a Mac OS X program that displays small pop-ups in the corner of the screen that disappear after a while or have a little x on them (closer to closing).

The custom UIView that I created the GCDiscreetNotificationView will install this pretty easily.
