Recommend Introductory C # Book for QA

They are not programmed during the first 40 years of their lives and have no ardent desire, but are quite technical.

I am looking for a good introductory book that will be relevant to what they do. I believe that one that does not fit too much into the difference between an abstract class and an interface and all the necessary theory, but focuses more on examples.

I understand that a good foundation is important, but it can come later, as needed. One book per answer, please.

EDIT: QA = Quality Assurance (still manual testing + some batch processing and SQL scripts). What for? Because we are trying to automate testing, and the point-and-click tools simply do not cut. Developers will become blazer trailers, and QA people are expected to follow copying examples, etc.

Thank you for your responses! Let me know if there are other questions.

Scott Dorman’s book, “Sams Teach Yourself Visual C # 2010 at 24 Hours” (must love this title ...) is a solid introduction to a topic that is too fast not too technical. I was a technical editor.

I bought Essential C # 4.0 , looking for an in-depth link to the new C # 4.0 features from earlier versions. It is actually broader than that, including some C # base points that I don’t need, and not drilling as deeply as I expected into some of the advanced concepts. This was not what I was looking for, but I would definitely recommend it for what you described.

I recommended “ Head First C # ” to a new non-comp sci graduate with little programming experience, and his comment is that the book is amazing.
For people new to programming or in this case without touching for 40 years, the first series of heads is very good. This is based on my own experience with "Head first HTML with CSS" and "Head First Design Patterns".
