Direct streaming audio using ASP.NET

Question

We need streaming audio from remote devices and the ability to listen to it on a web page. I can transfer saved audio files, but it’s a bit confusing for me on live, as we will add data at runtime. Can someone point me in the right direction to show me how to do this?

Two things:

• If all you need is a simple streaming, i.e. progressive download, then just specify the mime type on the server and it will be transmitted. Keep in mind that you will have to have a sound format that plays gradually (most often, but not all these days).

• If you want to control well what is happening, you need to build in an audio player and use the media server SDK. Here is a link to a Microsoft product: Windows Media Server SDK .
