Launch YouTube App from Android Browser

Question

It used to be that if you click the appropriate insert tag on a web page in an Android browser, it will launch the youtube application. Now that the browser has its own youtube plugin, it works instead.

How can I get the old behavior?

Youtube web pages still have the old behavior, but I cannot understand their javascript.
