What is the best JDBC driver 4 for Oracle 4?

What I want:

  • Stable, few errors and quick fixes.
  • You should be warned of common JDBC errors (connection leaks, etc.).
  • Must support CLOB

[EDIT] My main problems with the "free" Oracle Type 4 driver:

  • I spent two weeks looking for a cursor leak in the CLOB support code (closing the stream did not close the main cursor)
  • When you retrieve values from a ResultSet, you have to process them in order (so after getting column # 4, you can no longer get column # 3)
  • getMetaData () in the result set does not work until it selects the first row.
  • There were many other mistakes and shortcomings, but I no longer remember them.

So, in general, a driver that costs me $ 1,000 per seat is cheaper than Oracle free. The only thing that happened with the driver was that I did not need to enter the databases in TNSNAMES, and I could use one driver to access Oracle 8, 9, and 10. That's why I ask.

JDBC driver like Oracle Level 4 is pretty good. Obviously, as with any software, there are errors, but they are usually pretty good. And the price (free) cannot be beaten.

If you are looking for third-party commercial drivers, I have always had good experience working with DataDirect products in this area. Normally, I would not want to license a Type 4 JDBC driver, but if you have particularly high requirements for the end, this can be useful.
