What is the best JDBC driver 4 for Oracle 4?
What I want:
- Stable, few errors and quick fixes.
- You should be warned of common JDBC errors (connection leaks, etc.).
- Must support CLOB
[EDIT] My main problems with the "free" Oracle Type 4 driver:
- I spent two weeks looking for a cursor leak in the CLOB support code (closing the stream did not close the main cursor)
- When you retrieve values ββfrom a ResultSet, you have to process them in order (so after getting column # 4, you can no longer get column # 3)
- getMetaData () in the result set does not work until it selects the first row.
- There were many other mistakes and shortcomings, but I no longer remember them.
So, in general, a driver that costs me $ 1,000 per seat is cheaper than Oracle free. The only thing that happened with the driver was that I did not need to enter the databases in TNSNAMES, and I could use one driver to access Oracle 8, 9, and 10. That's why I ask.
