Formula for a text object?

I'm looking for a Crystal Report that someone else wrote (I'm very new to Crystal) and can't figure out what a particular field does!

I see that you can see the formula for the field by right-clicking and looking at the "editing formula". However, the option does not exist for this field (this is the text object that I think). Nevertheless, I know that its value is changing, but I can’t find what it depends on.

How do I know this? The text in the template starts with "@" if that means anything.

Thanks!

Well, it looks like you, at least, are starting out well with Crystal. 3 possibilities come to mind:

  • You are looking at a Field object. In this case, you can try Right Click-> Change Formula . (except that you have already done this, so we can skip this step).

  • You look at the “text object” into which the previous designer was dragging the formula. In this case, double-click the text object to find the full name of the formula and find it in the field explorer.

  • Many objects (including the ones I just mentioned 2) allow you to overwrite standard text based on any conditions that you like. I try to avoid this myself, but you can right-click-> "Field format / text / whatever → general ) and see if there is a custom formula for the display line .

Depending on your description, # 2 seems most likely. Try this first.
