Icon backdrop on Samsung Galaxy S? how to change it?

I see the background added to the launch icon on the Samsung Galaxy S devices. I need this background to be changed to the custom background that we created. I know that this can be changed, because applications like the Daily Briefing have their own cloud, like a background in which the launch icon looks really rich. If someone knows how to change this background, please let me know.

Take a look at the DAILY Briefing icon. You may notice a cloudy background for the DAILY BRIEFING. I would like to control the Icon background and, if possible, the size of the Eg icon. See the difference between the size of GOOD and YAHOOMAIL

The background is specific to Samsung. If there is a way to remove it, I would look on the Samsung developer website or ask them. Of the applications I worked on, I did not see a way to change it.
