Deny upload video

I want to know how we can prevent other users from uploading videos to my site. My site has the ability to download videos (in flv or mp4 format, the administrator will upload them), and users will be able to watch videos online (using flowplayer) as soon as they pay a certain amount.

But I noticed that users can download these videos using tools like Freecorder. I do not want this to happen, because the video has restrictive access and only for a certain period of time (until the user expires).

So, how can I prevent a user from uploading videos to my site?

The basic law of video distribution is very similar to the basic law of software licensing . This happens something like this: as soon as you put your video on a screen that you do not control, you no longer have control over the distribution of your video.

Even if you can stop them from downloading a file, you cannot stop them from connecting a VCR to your video card and re-recording. Even if you use protected path technology to stop this, you cannot stop them from pointing the camcorder on the screen.

If you want your videos to be wrapped, you need to show them in the theater under your control on the screens you control and ask someone to watch the audience on the video recording equipment. Nothing else will have more than a slight retarding effect on redistribution.

This message is outdated, but what I did to prevent some types of copying is to store the movies in the database and add an expiration date, username and password to the page that sends them to the screen.

This will not impede direct screen recording, but it is another step to help.

Streaming video files If you need a real level of protection, you need to use a real stream server. The big advantage here is that the file does not actually download to the user's computer - it is only considered as a stream in real time, and there is no file on the user's hard drive.

Streaming video provides pretty good protection. This will stop most random thieves from the dead - only those who are determined and with a little technical understanding will continue to try to steal the video.

The most common way to steal streaming video is to use a video capture tool. This is an application that captures a video stream and saves it as a file. This type of theft is extremely difficult to protect. Although some protective measures may exist, for example, by denying access to known capture utilities, this level of protection begins to lose. A thief who has devoted himself enough to using the stream capture utility is probably designed to do his best to get the video.

Even if the thief cannot capture the stream directly, he can always use the screen capture utility. This is an application that displays everything that is displayed on the screen. They can define a specific area or window (i.e. a video screen), play a video and inform the utility about it. There really is little that can be done to combat this, but even if you could ...

Anyone can configure the camcorder and point it to a computer monitor. Anyone with a few clues can remove the flicker and get a reasonable result. You absolutely cannot stop them from doing this. Although this is a very unusual way to steal a video, it is a good illustration that thieves always have one more option than a webmaster.
