Delphi IDE Editor no longer displays tooltips

My Delphi 2009 stopped today to show tips in the editor window. Nothing happens when I click on any id. Tooltips for IDE buttons are still displayed.
I also can not press CTRL anymore. As far as I remember, lately I have not changed anything. What can cause this?

Edit:
I found the setting, see my answer below.

I found the setting:
Option / Editor / Source Options have the option "Use syntax highlighting".

alt text

The help says: β€œEnables syntax highlighting. To set the highlighting options, use the Color page.

This setting further enables / disables

  • ID Tips
  • the ability to click CTRL on identifiers
  • entry in the context menu "Find ad"

I would not expect this by reading the help text.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Have you tried restarting the IDE?

If the problem persists, you may have disabled CodeInsight. To enable this again, go to Tools / Options, select "Editor Options" / "Code Acumen" and make sure that the "Code Completion", "Tooltip Insight", "Brackets in Brackets", "Understanding Errors", "Completion block "," Completion of the code template "," Code parameters "," Autofill "," Evaluation of the prompt expression "and" Understanding the symbol prompt "- all checked.

I had a similar problem with code completion, apparently not working, and found that the answer here is Code completion does not work in Delphi 2009

You may find that this helps with your problem.

Have you accidentally deleted the .NET framework? AFAIK, some parts of the Delphi IDE, like tooltips and refactorings, rely on .NET.
