The problem with the `: tabnew 'command when gVim maximizes under Ubuntu

My Ubuntu OS 9.04

When I maximize gVim windows

And then enter the command:

:tabnew

Changed the height of the gVim window.

gVim The status bar is hidden by the Ubuntu taskbar .

gVim works fine under Windows XP .

Is there any solution to solve this problem?

Thanks!

This is happening to me. The workaround I'm using is to minimize gVim and then increase it again. After that, the status bar is displayed again.

PS This question probably belongs to the superuser or askubuntu.

The error is described here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vim/+bug/137854

An error is reported in debian, but the problem still exists with Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty)

"unmaximise" and then maximizing the window is a workaround.
