Rails Server Solution

I am working on multi-platform (iPhone, Android, WM7, web), multi-player game with Rails backend (2.3.10) and needs server functionality. What is the best Rails server solution that works across multiple client platforms? Is it a juggernaut, comet, cramp, pushherap or?

One option is to use Faye (Ryan B. made a screencast on Faye ).

My experience is that Eventmachine is an excellent foundation for creating event things - Pusherapp is built on top of that. Therefore, if you want to make a more complicated decision, you should consider writing your own pub / sub server - perhaps using em-websocket .

Finally, although some find Pusherapp expensive, it is really simple and durable.

You will have to deal with many weird mobile browsers. If they support HTML5 websites, use it! Pusherapp seems to be great for this.

I think Pusherapp also has a flash reserve for customers who do not yet support websites.

I assume that with websockets + Flash fall-back you will have 98% of modern smartphones. Give it a try.

I created the pearl for creating central push notifications, it supports iOS and Android at the moment, but I will add more platforms.
