Are there other comparable implementations like commons-chain?

I need a simple workflow (not real workflows like jbpm or activiti, etc.) that will be used for simple orchestrations. I wonder if there are any. The focus is on

  • Simple generated api with nested chain support.
  • ability to execute a chain or part of a chain asynchronously
  • my own xml based configuration so I can save orchestrations in DB

After my own research, it turned out that there is no infrastructure that approaches a chain of common rights. However, there is one library that seems interesting, but does not meet my needs.
