Google Fonts, CSS, Latin Question

Question

I am trying to use this font on my website.

It is in Lithuanian, but that’s not the point, the fact is that on google fonts previewer I can see characters beautifully, but on my site some specific characters get some unpleasant look.

Maybe someone knows how I can solve this problem, I say?

PS Or recommend me another standard very light font that I could use ...

These glyphs are not included in the font. The standard fallback serif font should make it obvious; what i see (using the wikipedia pangram):

If you download the font and look inside (using the Font Book on a Mac or something like FontForge), you can see which glyphs are present or missing. To fix this, I would enter the characters you need in the preview.

A quick selection of sans-serif fonts containing the glyphs you need:

• Museo Sans , whose 500 weight is free to use online.
• Aller , which may require a license.
• DejaVu Sans and Droid Sans to be installed by many users.
• Helvetica, Geneva and FreeSans.
• Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Calibri, Candara and Arial, which will be installed by almost all users.

Calibri seems to be suitable for Lato, so you can use font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; (without any investment whatsoever).

I had the same problem with the Open Sans font, and it took me 3 hours to fix it until I found a solution.

Try specifying the subset corresponding to the glyphs for your language, for example, in my case:

from this

 <link href='//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,700' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> 

to

 <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,700&subset=latin,latin-ext' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> 

See if this fixes your problem. Obviously, make sure you check to see if the font you are using supports additional subsets . Do not forget that they also support Cyrillic and Extended Cyrillic .
