How to draw a chart in Google App Engine?

What I need is a statistical diagram, is there a way for my application in Google App Engine to create a .png diagram and return it to the browser?

A couple of years later, it's too late, but now we have Matplotlib for Python 2.7 applications. (It is currently marked as “experimental,” so you should not rely on it, but it is an option.)
