What to choose (in ASP.NET MVC) for a new online store project?

What to choose to create a new online store project? I have narrowed down my capabilities in using ASP.NET MVC, so this is necessary. This leaves me:

  • Rob Conery Kona (not updated anymore, but everything as a whole seems to be a good foundation, but with lots of features).
  • Jon Galloway MVC MusicStore (very simple, in fact it might be easier to start from scratch and take into account all the special details that we need).
  • Start from scratch
  • Anything else?

I worked with MVC over the past year, so I could start from scratch and get the basic functionality developed in no time, but I like the advanced Rob functionality that he added.

I'm just not sure how difficult it is to adapt Kona to our individual needs - has anyone else tried this? For example, use EF instead of NHibernate?

Honestly, half the fun of the Rob Conerys series was β€œthere” during the process he went through and the trials and trials he faced. If you already have the basics of using MVC for a year, I'm not sure there will be too much of this.

The most fundamental thing about the MVC pattern and .NET tools that come into their own using (extension methods baby!) Is that there are so many ways to solve the problem, some good, some better and sometimes some that keep you going BAZINGA !.

If you have time, I would highly recommend just hacking and see what you come up with. Once you have a working prototype, it is always useful to compare with what else is there, for example, with something like this post

You may also consider using Rob's new new site: "Tekpub MVC 2.0 Starter Site" . This inspired his experience with Rails and has many useful utilities created right from the start. It was built as a result of his MVC 2.0 course at TekPub, which he recorded with Stephen Sanderson.
