Develop iPhone with Bluetooth SPP OS 3/4

I am developing an iPhone application that interacts with several Bluetooth devices that support the Serial Port Profile. I believe this is SPP since they appear on my MacBook as Serial Port DevB etc.

I understand that iPhone OS 3.x does not support SPP - is this correct? Does anyone know if this has been fixed in OS 4? I saw OS 4 reports that support the keyboard, but will this locked version of HID or SPP be available through the SDK?

This seems to be a blocked version of HID, you can track Bluetooth support here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
