Heroku FREE DB and Dyno "power"

Can anyone estimate how much data can be inserted into a 5 MB database?

Also, will 1 Dyno handle slashdot, hackernews, etc.?

Hush up an amazing amount ... good enough for you to start it for sure.

I use 1 dyno all the time for low traffic (for example, my personal website and several xml servers, but, apparently, this is great if you start loading visitors to your website and have performance problems. Small click to add extra dinosaurs.

You should also think about working hours, not what you are doing, but many applications may require a background process.
