TeamCity and NAnt: How to send a successful start / failed email message?

I want to send an email if the build failed for the developers with details of the failures. I also want to send a successful email to project admins, etc. With an address in a new test application.

What is the right tool to send actual mail, TeamCity or NAnt?

You can use Nant to send emails , but TeamCity is more appropriate as it can provide a centralized place for notifications , including emails .

TeamCity provides a wide range of notification capabilities to keep developers up to date with the status of their projects.
Notifications can be sent:

  • Email,
  • Jabber / XMPP Instant Messaging or
  • can be displayed in the IDE (using TeamCity plugins) or
  • Windows system tray (using TeamCity for Windows tray notifications).

Each user can select events for receiving notifications on the page "My settings and tools". Notifications can be configured globally for each server.

Thus, it is not only about how to send mail, but also about how to manage the notification process from the server and from the point of view of the client.
