How to place a signature (figure / table) in the field?

I am writing a dissertation and want to put a lot of small photographs in it. I also need to use captions (with captions) to better navigate and access these images. At the same time, I want to free up space and put captions next to (next to) the pictures, in the field, like marginpar. I tried the sidecap package, but this did not work, nor did the mcaption package help. Perhaps the use of the mini-disk would allow it, but I would also like to align the label to the middle (vertical alignment) of the image.

Any suggestions?

I got this work in my dissertation:

\usepackage[margincaption,outercaption,ragged,wide]{sidecap} \sidecaptionvpos{figure}{t} \sidecaptionvpos{table}{t}

and then working with

 \begin{SCfigure}[][htb] ... \end{SCfigure}

Alternatively, you can create a title using the caption package as follows:

 \captionsetup[SCfigure]{format=plain, ...}

(same for SCtable )
