Is it possible to get an “Aero Glass” look at XP?

Does anyone know of any framework that allows (not quite the same, but) Vista Aero Glass on XP?

I need to develop a small desktop application with WPF that has a Vista-like interface on XP. I don't really need Aero Glass, some user interfaces like Windows Live Messenger will do this. Is there any way to make this a reality?

If you really mean Aero Glass , then I think you're out of luck. The hardware acceleration required to create this effect is only supported by Vista DWM (Desktop Window Manager), which works by arranging multiple windows together in one processed layer.

If you just want transparency and non-rectangular windows, this can certainly be achieved in XP, as evidenced by the fact that Windows Live Messenger can do this. See Layered Windows on MSDN.

According to Stu Mackellar, Windows XP does not have the required part to get the effect of Aero Glass: DWM. The solution is to create your own "fake" glass effect. Take a look at this blog (you can download the code).
