Eclipse will not open Android Xml files

Question

I am just starting with Android and everything works fine, but when I try to look at any XML file in eclipse, I get the following error. The only way I can see them is "Opening with" → TextFile.

I have seen this problem before. Sometimes (without guarantees!) Installing the latest JRE / JDK helps.

This morning I updated the ADT plugins and got the same problems.

The solution was to uninstall the latest version of the plugins and then download the previous versions (you can try this http://dl.google.com/android/ADT-8.0.1.zip , while http: // dl .google.com / android / ADT-9.0.0.zip , if you follow the standard file name conventions, is not available), and then install the plugins as a local archive. Then the problem is fixed.

I believe this is a major bug in the latest version of the ADT plugin.

I also got this problem. This is really annoying. The fact is that if you remove the plugins and install older versions, you will encounter a problem when the SDK is too relevant for the plugins and ask you to update it again then.

I think you can update all the software by going to: Help> Check for updates and update all the software, and that should sort it out.
