`sbt package` leads to a huge war file - how to reduce it?

I am currently using SBT to manage my Lift project. I would like to deploy it, but when I run the sbt package, it creates a 60 megabyte war file. This seems pretty big - are there any ways to reduce the size?

It turns out that this is because the 'sbt package' followed symbolic links and packed all my images in a warfile. Thanks for the feedback anyway!
