Visited links are part of your web search history, and how long they are stored depends on the individual settings of each user. I suppose Firefox remembers the unlimited history by default, but anyone can set a time limit for it or clear it every time they close the browser, etc.

Usually it is :visited , if the URL is in the browser history, it is pretty consistent between browsers. How long? ... however, a long story is kept, which is highly dependent on preferences. In addition, if the user is in some kind of privacy mode, the story is usually turned off, which means that the links are not visited.

Not sure about all browsers, but Firefox seems to show visited links of different colors until I restart the browser; it shows these visited links on the history tab, but they have the same color as the page.
