I use Paperclip and here is what I do in the model to remove attachments:
def before_save self.avatar = nil if @delete_avatar == 1.to_s end
It works fine if the @delete_avatar flag @delete_avatar not set when the user actually loads the image (therefore, the model receives both params[:user][:avatar] and params[:user][:delete_avatar] . This leads to the following error:

I assume this has something to do with the value of avatar.dirty? because when it is truly true when it occurs. The question is, how do I completely reset the thing, if there are changes that need to be saved, and stop loading the avatar when setting the flag?
