Is it possible to update the application icon on iphone software

I noticed that the icon belonging to the Calendar app on the iPhone is being updated to show the last day. Is there anything in the SDK that will allow me to do this in my applications?

Unfortunately, for third-party applications this is not possible.

I have never seen this in any documentation, I am sure that it can only use the static icon.png file, which is placed in the ipa package. That would be an amazing feature, although I would recommend creating a function request for it at https://bugreport.apple.com/ . I specifically want the weather app to be updated with your local weather for the badge.
