Gmail HTML5 feature to "drop" attachments

Question

I have seen this and I must admit that I am very impressed:

I am pretty sure that this is an HTML 5 function (it is supported in Chrome and Firefox 3.5), and I was wondering if anyone knows what the browser function is called.

Bonus points for a lesson / article on how to do something like this!

It seems that dragover , dragenter , dragexit , drop events + event.dataTransfer - all this works. Putting it along with several parts / form of ajax POST, as the link that the dorn gave, is more impressive, in my opinion. I hope this can be done a little easier than that.
