Do I have to talk about “pixels” when it comes to view size on iPhone OS?

Actually, iPhone OS has a resolution independent measurement for presentation sizes. These are not pixels, are they? For example, I could make a width view of 10.55f, which would then be mixed with fractional pixels.

But what is the name of this "unit" in reality. Can we talk about "Units"? Or is it too general or even wrong? Can we talk about "square units"? How would you refer to this in a blog or magazine article?

The same goes for MAC OSX, I think.

You are right, pixels are not the right word. Apple calls them dots.
