Can someone explain in technical details how the Android application handles updates ?, What information does the application usually need to send to request an update, and what does it receive ?.

Updates to the applications themselves are processed centrally by the Market application. You download the updated apk to the market through the website, and your users will be asked to update them over the next few days.

That’s why it’s important save the .keystore file with which you sign your applications. If you do not have this signature, you cannot update your applications for security reasons.

Your application does not have to contain its own update logic.
