PHP / HTML / JS / CSS Web Editor

Is there a free php code that, after installation, allows you to view and edit files (using html, javascript, php and css highlight) on the server where it is installed? The goal is to encode online, based on the browser. I tried http://phpanywhere.net/ , which can make this possible, but it is buggy, and in addition, it requires external (ftp) access to your server, this is a completely different (and less secure) one that works directly on the server .

There are several reasons why this might be a bad idea.

  • Security. It would be very difficult to make such a thing safe.
  • Utility A text editor on the Internet is likely to be as useful as MS Notepad. It does not have the functionality of a good text editor. It will also make it difficult to do things like version control, etc.

However, I have seen this before. For example, cPanel does this. Perhaps you could explore some free cPanel alternatives such as ISPConfig or EHCP . But I would be very careful to use something from someone you don’t trust for security reasons. Please note that there are many security issues that cannot be resolved by putting something behind SSL.

It looks pretty impressive, I will probably check it myself. You can learn ECCO: http://ecco.sourceforge.net/ - Of course, the advantage here is that it is open source and downloadable, that if I don't read too much in my question, this is what you want to. Apparently, this is in Alpha status, but the screenshots suggest that it is at least moderately functional.

Mozilla Labs' Bespin, an online HTML editor, also appeared on my search, but so far I haven’t. um, get it.
